Back in June I wrote a quick piece on Retro-Bit’s Super Retro Boy – a brand new Game Boy cl0ne that can play all of your Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games.  It was rechargeable so that was a huge plus – wasting all those AA batteries as a kid sucked.  I was looking forward to the Super Retro Boy in August but it never came out.  September hit.  Nothing.  October?  Nada.  The original story grew popular and even had some readers wondering about, “Do you have an update, Ryan?”

I do have an update for you all.  You just aren’t going to like it.

Retro-Bit got back in touch and this is what they had to tell me:

“We understand the high demand for the Super Retro Boy, and we are working hard to make the best product possible. Unfortunately we no longer estimate a 2017 release date at this time. We will be sure to keep you guys updated on our social channels and website when more information is available.”

Did they bite off more than they can chew and are still working on the Super Retro Boy?  Is it finished but they were unable to start producing them for the holiday season?  Unfortunately that is all the information I have for now.  Hopefully the Super Retro Boy will be out sometime next year and we can all enjoy playing some Boxxle or Ninja Five-o on the go once again.

I’ll be back with any updates.  Until then…can someone help me fix my broken SP?
